Championing Gender Equality in South Australia

I’m Fighting for a Fairer Future for Women and Girls

As a woman in Parliament, I’ve seen firsthand how deeply entrenched inequality still is in our workplaces, institutions, and communities. From the gender pay gap to the disproportionate experience of violence, the barriers women face are real, persistent, and unacceptable.

That’s why I’ve introduced legislation, led inquiries, and stood with women across South Australia to demand better.

My Commitment to Change

  • Closing the Gender Pay Gap
I’ve twice introduced a Gender Equality Bill to Parliament, calling for mandatory reporting of gender pay gaps in the public sector and accountability measures for organisations that fail to uphold pay equity. It’s time we stopped talking about the gap and started closing it.
  • Ending Gender-Based Violence
I was proud to help initiate the Royal Commission into Domestic, Family and Sexual Violence in South Australia. We must continue to fund support services, empower women economically, and challenge the harmful stereotypes that fuel abuse.
  • Supporting Women in Leadership
I’ve backed programs like Pathway to Politics and called for ambitious diversity targets across public and private sectors. Our Parliament should reflect the people it serves, and that means more women in decision-making roles.
  • Standing Up to Harassment
I led the inquiry into bullying and harassment in the legal profession, exposing a culture of silence and imbalance. I’ve since called for similar investigations into harassment in local government and other sectors.

Catching Up with Matilda Scholz

Recently, I had the pleasure of catching up with Port Adelaide AFLW player Matilda Scholz. A rising star and a powerful voice for women in sport. We spoke about the challenges female athletes face, from pay inequality to media representation, and the importance of creating pathways for girls to thrive in elite sport.

Matilda’s passion and resilience are inspiring. Her story reminds us that gender equality isn’t just about policy, it’s about opportunity, visibility, and respect.

What I’m Fighting For

  • Transparent gender equality reporting across all sectors
  • Economic empowerment initiatives for women and carers
  • Safe workplaces free from harassment and discrimination
  • Equal representation in leadership, sport, and media
  • Support for foster and kinship carers, including superannuation-style payments

Let’s Build a Fairer South Australia.

I’ll keep fighting for the reforms we need to make gender equality a reality. If you believe in a future where women and girls can thrive, I invite you to join me. Share your story, support the campaign, and help us drive lasting change.

Because equality isn’t negotiable, it’s essential.
