Tackling the Cost of Living Crisis

I’m Fighting to Ease the Pressure on South Australian Families

The cost of living is biting hard. From groceries and rent to school fees and fuel, families across South Australia are struggling to make ends meet. I hear it every day from parents, carers, young people, and seniors. That’s why I’ve made it a priority to push for practical, meaningful support that helps ease the burden.

Whether it’s through targeted financial relief, fairer access to services, or smarter investment in community wellbeing, I’m committed to making sure no South Australian is left behind.

Supporting Families Through Sport

One of the most effective ways we can support families is by helping kids stay active and engaged outside the classroom. That’s why I successfully advocated to double the annual Sports Voucher Program from $100 to $200 per child.

This reform means:

  • More kids can participate in sport and extracurricular activities.
  • Families can better afford fees, uniforms, equipment, and match-day costs.
  • Teenagers aren’t cut off from support just because they’ve finished Year 9.

I’m continuing to push for the age cut-off to be extended, because staying fit and connected is just as important for teens as it is for younger children.

And I’ve raised concerns about gender inequality in sport fees—like the fact that junior netballers are charged $8.40 to play at Netball SA Stadium, while footballers aren’t asked to pay to play. In a cost-of-living crisis, these fees can be the difference between signing up or sitting out.

What I’m Fighting For

  • Expanded cost-of-living support for school-aged children and their families
  • Fairer access to sport and recreation, especially for girls and teens
  • Recognition and support for foster and kinship carers, including superannuation-style payments to ease long-term financial pressure
  • Free or discounted access to public transport and community facilities for seniors and low-income households
  • Practical reforms that make everyday life more affordable—not just headline announcements

This Is About Dignity and Opportunity

Cost-of-living relief isn’t just about dollars, it’s about giving people the chance to live well, participate fully, and raise their kids with confidence. I’ll keep fighting for policies that reflect the real pressures families face and deliver real solutions.

If you’re feeling the pinch or want to support the campaign, I invite you to get involved. Share your story, sign the petition, and help us build a fairer South Australia.

Because no one should have to choose between paying bills and giving their kids a chance to thrive.
